Today Intertwine opens its doors. We are the parent of three independently operated companies, each working where science meets business, and each held to the same standard: clear thinking, careful execution and results that can be measured. Our line for it is the one on every page of this site. Where ideas converge, innovations emerge.

This note sets out who we are, what we believe and what comes next.

Three companies, one standard

Intertwine is built as a family rather than a single firm. Each company has its own leadership, its own clients and its own market, and each is free to move at the pace its work demands. What they share is a way of working.

• Intertwine Associates offers strategic consulting and operational execution: teams trained in our operational efficiency framework who turn complex problems into results on the ground.
• Intertwine Bio supports scientific commercialization, guiding new technologies from research toward the market.
• Intertwine Digital builds scientific software that makes research operations faster, safer and clearer.

Why now

We are launching into a period of unusual company formation in the United States. Applications to form new businesses, as the Census Bureau counts them, ran near 2.5 million a year through the late 2000s and most of the 2010s. They stepped up in 2020 and have not come back down.

More companies are being started than at any time in the record. Every one of them needs sound operations from its first day, and those built on science also need a route from the laboratory to the market and software that keeps their research in order. Those are the three things our companies do.

What we believe

Across everything we do, we hold to a few beliefs.

• Honesty over spin. We say what we see, including when it is not what anyone hoped to hear.
• Execution over abstraction. A plan is only as good as the work that follows it.
• Shared success over solo wins. Our companies, our clients and our people do well together or not at all.
• Operational excellence as the foundation. Efficiency is not a project; it is how the work is done every day.

How we work

• Rooted in the region, aware of the world. We are based in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and bring practices proven elsewhere to the work in front of us.
• Re-imagine, re-design, re-define. Our method of operational improvement, shaped for the life sciences and the organizations around them.
• Lean by design. Following the Japanese principle of muda, we look for waste in every process and take it out.
• Aligned talent. We hire people who lead from any seat, think like owners and stay calm under pressure.
